Upgrade Your Home’s Electrical System

- 12:06 pm - August 31st, 2020

The heating season is upon us, and with that the thought of your home’s capacity to power your comfort systems! If you’re thinking about upgrading your home’s electrical system, here are a few things you should focus on to make your home safer and more energy efficient!

Let E.T. Lawson help by upgrading…

The Wiring

Old and outdated wiring is an issue on a few levels. For starters, older wiring is prone to overheating when overloaded and, since it’s hidden inside the walls of your home, could lead to an electrical fire. Then there’s any damage the older wired may have endured over the years that could also cause issues with overheating or short circuiting.

The Electrical Panel

Similarly to outdated wiring, outdated electrical panels are prone to malfunctioning which can result in breakers constantly tripping, or worse, not tripping when they need to. Additionally, if you’re planning on bringing more appliances into the home you’ll need space in the panel. If there isn’t room in your old panel, an upgrade can help.

The Outlets

Many modern appliances come equipped with three-prong plugs, the third being a ground for the equipment which keeps it and the user (that’s you!) safe. Older outlets might not have the third slot for proper grounding, and adapters aren’t safe to use, so upgrading to three-prong outlets is the best way to go!

A Standby Generator

A standby generator is a good investment for any home that relies on electricity… which is every home in Hampton Roads! Power outages can impede your use of the electrical system in your home, but with a standby generator you can continue using your television, computer, phone charger, coffee maker, and more to retain your comfort during a stressful time.
