Cut Energy Costs This Fall and Winter

- 3:38 pm - October 11th, 2019

When the nights start cooling off as drastically as they have been here in Hampton Roads, you know it means a heavier reliance on your home heating equipment. Along with increased usage of your heating equipment comes more fuel consumption, which leads to higher heating costs. This doesn’t have to be the case, however!

There are a few things you can do to help optimize your heating system’s performance and improve your home’s energy usage.

Follow these FREE AND EASY tips to conserve energy!

  • Close your kitchen vent, fireplace damper and closet doors when they’re not in use
  • Remove air conditioning window units
  • Turn back your thermostat. For every one degree you lower your thermostat per day, you’ll save up to 3% off of your daily fuel costs
  • Don’t allow furniture and rugs block baseboard vents
  • Open curtains and blinds to take advantage of the warm sun!

Invest in a new furnace or boiler!

Older heating equipment tends to use fuel less efficiently than today’s furnaces and boilers. When you upgrade your heating system, you not only improve the overall coverage of your comfort equipment, you also lower heating costs by anywhere up to 40%.

  • Modern heating equipment boasts efficiency ratings as high as 95%
  • Modern heating equipment comes equipped with the latest in comfort control technology
  • Modern heating equipment tends to last longer than equipment manufactured decades ago
  • Modern heating equipment helps improve the quality of air in the home

Schedule a tune-up for your heating equipment!

If your home already uses modern heating equipment, be sure to maintain its efficiency by scheduling regular tune-ups at least once a year. Annual tune-ups…

  • Allow our technicians to spot small problems and address them sooner
  • Reduce the chances of a mid-winter breakdown
  • Keep repair costs under control
  • Maintains the efficiency of the system

Don’t let those heating costs worry you! Work on conserving energy in your home to balance out what you spend on home heating, and utilize new, well-maintained equipment to keep costs under control. Contact E.T. Lawson to keep your equipment in check this heating season!
