Protect Those Pipes!

- 11:49 am - January 24th, 2024

Let’s face it, frozen or burst pipes were not part of your January plans! When a pipe bursts, it can cause costly damage to your home. At E.T. Lawson, we know a thing or two about frozen pipes, so here are some tips to keep your pipes thawed this winter!

How to prevent frozen pipes:

  • Insulate accessible pipes, especially if they are in an uninsulated area of your home
  • Repair damaged windows, doors, and walls to keep cold air out
  • Keep your thermostat set to 55 degrees or above at all times
  • Seal up crawl spaces or any area where cold air can get in
  • Turn off water to outdoor faucets; make sure you drain the pipes first
  • If you will be away from home for an extended period of time, arrange for someone to make sure the heat is still functioning and there are no other issues.

A properly working heating system is a great first step at preventing frozen pipes! If your system is making unusual noises or using more fuel than in the past, contact us for service.
