Get Your Furnace Ready for Winter With E.T. Lawson

- 2:05 pm - November 11th, 2019

Before we know it winter will be coming to Hampton Roads, Virginia bringing with it low temperatures that cause E.T. Lawson customers to depend more heavily on their heating systems. If you haven’t already started to prepare your furnace for winter, it’s not too late! Here are some great tips to keep your furnace operating at top efficiency when you need it most.

Prep your furnace by…

Changing or cleaning your air filters. Air filters keep allergens, dirt and dust out of the air you breathe, but they also help prolong the life of the system by keeping all of that debris from reaching the system’s important components and forcing it to work harder.

Weatherizing your house. The walls of your house have a very important job – keeping the cold air out and the warm air in! Older homes, however, have likely shifted over time causing drafts around windows and doors, as well as poorly insulated areas. You can weatherize your home using caulk or weather-stripping around doors and windows, but for a more impactful weatherization, call E.T. Lawson and learn about our duct sealing, attic insulating, and crawlspace encapsulating services!

Paying attention to strange noises. If your equipment starts to make strange noises, it could be an indication that the internal components of the system are damaged and eventually lead to a system breakdown. Get ahead of any problems by calling E.T. Lawson right away if you notice any noises that are out of the ordinary.

Scheduling maintenance on the system. Regular tune-ups provided by E.T. Lawson help to ensure your furnace is operating at peak efficiency year after year. We’re able to clean up the system, test it, and make any small adjustments to help avoid big problems down the road.

Locking in regular tune-ups by enrolling in a Service Agreement can also help maintain your equipment’s ability to keep you warm while saving you on repair costs. Is your furnace ready for the cold weather? Give E.T. Lawson a call and we’ll help get it there with new equipment installation and tune-ups!
