Don't Wait to Replace Your Old Smoke Detectors!

- 12:47 pm - June 14th, 2023

When was the last time you checked your smoke detectors? If you think it might be time to replace them, it almost certainly is! The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends replacing your smoke detectors every 10 years to ensure that they are working to the best of their ability.

E.T. Lawson's electrical services include replacing and installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. These devices are required inside homes for one simple reason: they help protect you and your family!

Tips from the NFPA:

  • Test all of your smoke alarms once a month
  • Smoke alarms should be installed on ceilings or high on a wall
  • Replace your batteries once a year
  • Every bedroom should have a smoke alarm both inside and directly outside of it
  • Interconnect your smoke alarms so that when one sounds, they all sound
  • If you live in a larger home, you may need extra smoke alarms

At E.T. Lawson, we believe that there is no such thing as being too prepared, especially when it comes to smoke detectors. Give us a call at (757) 722-1928 to discuss the best options in smoke detectors for your home.
